It is mentioned in the salon article (http://www.salon.com/...) that he pays 19% in voluntary tithe to the Mormon church.
But he just reported that he only pays approx 14% in taxes. Wouldn't this indicate that he feels more of a responsibility to the Mormon church than he does to the country that he is running for president of?
There is a large problem when discussing his faith is "off-limits" in the media. When there is evidence that he feels a personal allegiance to his church and not to America, that is something that the American people need to be informed of. Would Mitt push policies that he knows to be bad for the country but good for the Mormon church? Odds are 19-14 in favor.
